On a personal level, I have been extremely fortunate to have a voice on various public platforms including print and digital media, and as a speaker, both in South Africa, and across the world. I have always communicated a positive message about South Africa, generally, and more specifically, in relation to the Mining and Natural Resources Sector, which I am passionate about, and I have always taken the approach that South Africa is a beautiful country, worth visiting, and, just as importantly, worth investing in.
As a firm, Beech Veltman Incorporated has participated in, assisted with, and actively supports transformation, growth and development, through various initiatives, including in the Mining and Natural Resources Sector.
I recall, vividly, the lead up to South Africa’s transition to democracy, and, importantly, the hope inspired by Former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and the actions of ordinary South Africans who came together, as they are doing now, to ensure that peace and stability is once again, brought to this country that we all love so much. It would not, in my view, be appropriate to only refer to South African citizens – the diversity of cultures, people and nationalities in South Africa contribute significantly.
As a firm, we believe implicitly in a culture of caring, and each of us, in our own way, will be doing everything possible to support stabilisation and rebuilding of our communities. As a firm, we have implemented various initiatives, with the immediate focus on providing food to the most vulnerable members of our communities.
As we lead up to International Mandela Day on 18 July 2021, we will be asking each of our team members to reflect on the fortunate position that each of us are in, and how we can continue contributing to our communities.
We wish everybody in South Africa peace.
